Dean Pick to Present at Valve World 2026 in Calgary on Precision Control and Durability
Kinitics Automation is heading to Calgary for the Valve World 2026 International Expo & Conference which runs June 3–4, 2026. This year will feature a session from Kinitics’ own Dean Pick, who will give a talk called:Exploring the Durability of Function of SMA Driven Valve Actuators.
Dean’s session, scheduled for Day 2, June 4, at 1:20 PM, will explore how better durability and control translates into better economics and reduced downtime
As part of his talk, Dean will present on the KVA38 valve actuator, which is based around a highly durable and precise Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) drivetrain. Unlike conventional pneumatic and motorized solutions, the SMA-based design maintains continued operational capability with only minor performance changes in the event of an internal failure.
Another key theme of the session will be the importance of zero dead band. When operators have precise, repeatable control, they can reduce unwanted movement, avoid overshoot, and limit the kind of inconsistent response that can put stress on surrounding infrastructure. That level of control helps protect nearby equipment, reduce avoidable damage, and support more reliable performance over time..
If you’re attending Valve World 2026, join Dean’s talk to see how durable precision actuation can improve performance, protect critical assets, and deliver measurable operational value.
